A re-run of SING OUT, a top-notch musical production
If you happen to see a gigantic yellow banner over the Hong Kong Cultural Center in the summer, that was the very same SING OUT musical production played last year. This year, many of our Hipwoers played the leading roles and discovered their inner strength and values in the re-run. This musical was attended by top celebrities, both former and incumbent high ranking government officials and key names from the community in the Main Theatre of Hong Kong Cultural Centre on 7th to 9th September with tickets all completely sold out for five shows.
You may wonder why so much hype? Partly, it was a production by an award-winning composer but more importantly, the musical touched on a social issue that concerned everyone in Hong Kong.
The central theme of the musical depicted a tale of modern-day city youths who revisited basic human values and explored their potential, gaining acceptance through the power of performing arts. Issues concerning young people (ethnic minorities or new immigrants) such as the definition of success and excellence, and what it means to be a Hongkonger.
The vales of respect, acceptance and appreciation does not stop here. It continues……
