The Story of Career Planning for the first NSS cohort

Ng Kwong Sum (Freeman) is our graduate for the first NSS (New Senior Secondary) cohort. During his study in our school (2006-2012), his perseverance to strive for excellence was impressive, perhaps because of his passion towards sports (he was our schools’ football team member, with excellent football skills and accurate passing as a midfielder). He fully understands the importance of career planning and is willing to dedicate his time for it. He also understands that in order to achieve his goal, he has to act for it and constantly adjust his goals according to actual circumstances. In 2012, he sat for the first DSE Examination. Although he could not earn a place in the university at that moment, this did not affect his career planning. Following his plan B (backup plan), he applied for the high diploma course in analytical science in IVE successfully. During the two-year study he did his best and graduated with top results. With his top GPA scores, he was recruited by the Chinese University of Hong Kong for the degree in Natural Science. He will get his bachelor degree and continue his studies in two years. His experience is a solid proof of our career planning education in recent years. ‘All roads lead to Rome’. As long as we are committed and proactive in striving for excellence despite adversity, our goals can be achieved eventually.

As a matter of fact, there are many cases which resemble Freeman’s. We are going to report these cases in later issues and we sincerely hope that all parents, alumni and students can provide us with more inspiring stories for sharing.
