The 23rd Graduation Ceremony for the Initiation Program for newly arrived children

 

On 24/1, the 23rd graduation ceremony for the Initiation Program (IP) for newly arrived children was held. There were of total of 32 graduates, with guests including parents, our principal, class teachers, subject teachers and social workers. The ceremony featured students’ learning performance and consisted of 4 main booths, which learning portfolios were displayed with students’ verbal explanation. The ceremony included prize presentation, poems recital (both English and Chinese), singing performance and sharing by class representatives and subject teachers. To thank all the parents for their support, parents were also invited to have sharing in terms of their children’s development and transformation. The sharing was touching and impressive.

 

Note: The Initiation Program for the Newly Arrived Children is an educational support service the Education Bureau entrusted our school to provide. It aims to help newly arrived children to adapt to the new learning environment in Hong Kong. There are 3 objectives: (1) To enhance the Chinese and English proficiencies of the newly arrived children. (2) To foster their personal development and social adaptation. (3) To strengthen their learning exposure to the real classroom situations.
